A new chapter in my Black Grimoire.
Blood & Blossom didn’t begin as a business idea. It began with a conversation.
I was talking with a co-worker outside of work - the kind of casual, off the clock chat where hobbies come up naturally. Anime, games, fantasy books. The things we love when we’re not trying to be “professional” versions of ourselves. At some point, they asked me not to mention that they liked anime at work.
Not because it wasn’t true.
But because they didn’t want to be judged for it.
That moment stuck with me.
Fandom Isn’t New - Judgment Just Changed Its Shape
Liking anime, gaming, or fantasy isn’t something to be embarrassed about - but for a long time, it was treated that way. In the 90s, if you liked games, you were a nerd. If you loved fantasy, you were childish. If you cared deeply about fictional worlds, you were “cringe.”
The world has changed, but not everyone’s mentality has caught up.
I’ve experienced it too. Mentioning a fandom I love and getting laughed at. Being told it’s immature. Watching people shrink parts of themselves to fit into workplaces or social spaces that don’t feel safe enough for honesty.
I’m lucky - I don’t care much anymore. But not everyone has that luxury. And no one should feel like they have to hide the things that bring them joy.
That’s where Blood & Blossom really began.
Creating a Space That Feels Safe - and Still Stylish
I didn’t want to create merch that forced people to choose between self-expression and comfort. I wanted to make products that invite fandom without demanding it. Pieces you can wear, use, or display without bracing yourself for judgment - but that still light up instantly when a fellow fan notices.
That’s why Blood & Blossom focuses on subtle fandom-inspired designs.
Not because fandom should be hidden - but because subtlety can be empowering.
When someone who knows, sees one of my designs and goes, “Wait… is that?”
That’s the moment I’m designing for.
Why I Chose Subtle Fandom Over Trends
Trendy fandom merch is loud by nature. It announces itself. And for some people, that’s perfect. But for others - especially those who’ve been teased, judged, or made to feel small - it can feel like armor you’re not always ready to wear.
Subtle fandom designs offer something different:
-
They let fans recognise each other quietly
-
They create conversation without confrontation
-
They feel intentional, not disposable
-
They age beyond a single trend cycle
Blood & Blossom isn’t about chasing what’s popular this month. It’s about creating designs that feel meaningful long after the hype fades - stickers, prints, and stationery that carry symbolism instead of shouting references.
A Small Anime-Inspired Business Built on Inclusion
Blood & Blossom is an anime and fantasy inspired small business, but more than that, it’s a space built on inclusion. A reminder that loving something deeply doesn’t make you childish - it makes you human.
Every product is designed with care, from material choices to finish, because I believe transparency and intention matter. This applies not just to how things are made, but why they exist.
Which is why this blog exists too.
What You’ll Find in The Black Grimoire
The Black Grimoire is the archive of everything behind Blood & Blossom - the thoughts, the process, the lessons, and the quiet magic.
Here, I’ll be sharing:
-
sticker care guides and product education
-
behind-the-scenes looks at how my designs are made
-
insights from running an anime-inspired small business
-
artist alley experiences and lessons learned
-
reflections on fandom, creativity, and being unapologetically yourself
Some entries will educate. Some will entertain. Some will simply exist to remind you that you’re not alone in the things you love.
For Those In the Know
Blood & Blossom is for the fans who notice details. For the ones who’ve been told their hobbies are “too much” or “not serious enough.” For the quiet recognition between strangers who share a love for the same worlds.
If someone sees your sticker and thinks, “Wait… is that?” Then the design has done exactly what it was meant to do.
This is The Black Grimoire.
And this is only the beginning.
